The three year term begins on December 1, 2020. The Committee Charter requires that one Committee member reside in Sitka. This vacancy is for that seat, so qualified applicants must reside in Sitka.

The Committee meets once per year (via remote communication) usually at the beginning of April to review all academic, vocational, and cultural and heritage applications.

To give you an idea of the workload, the Committee met in April 2020 and reviewed 83 applications.  They were pleased to award 78 applicants a scholarship for a total of just over $186,000 for the 2020/2021 academic year.

The next Academic Scholarship Deadline is Friday, March 12, 2021.
