A Culture Alive and Dynamic

Shee Atiká serves over 3,400 shareholders across Alaska, the U.S. and a number of other countries.

The majority of our shareholders are of Tlingit descent. Their moieties are under the Raven or Eagle. Our Sitka clans consist of L’uknax.adi, Kik.sadi, Kaagwaantaan, Chookaneidee, T’akdeintaan, Daklaweidee, Wooshkeetaan, Yanyeidi, Deisheetaan and L’eeneidee. We also have shareholders across the state and country who are of Haida, Tsimpsian, Athabascan, Aleut and Eskimo descent. Our rich cultural heritage is strengthened by the diversity of our people.

Stewards of the Land

Many of our shareholders are the original people and stewards of Southeast Alaska’s waters and land. We are proud to take part in preserving and celebrating this region’s environment that has been maintained by our shareholders since time immemorial.

Shee Atiká is a modern spelling of the original Tlingit word for Sitka Kwáan. A kwáan is vaguely akin to a tribe and is more accurately defined as a geographical area where several clans lived in close association with one another.
