Message from the Board Chair
Shee Atiká was formed to uphold our culture – to maintain our traditions as we learn from our experiences and build a future that honors our past. Our grandparents’ teachings light our path forward. Their language, stories and artwork tell us who we are, and help us imagine and shape the lives of our grandchildren.
We envision Shee Atiká as a torch, an eternal flame passed from one generation to the next, representing the knowledge and wisdom embedded in our culture in all its beauty and color. On behalf of the Board, it’s my pleasure and honor to introduce this symbolic torch as our new Shee Atiká logo. Created by Tlingit artist Jerrod Galanin in collaboration with the Element Agency team, the new logo was inspired by our role as the "Keepers of the Torch".
The new logo is part of a year-long effort by the Board to affirm and restate our mission and ensure that our graphics, words, and all communications represent our shareholders and shared values. Your directors are committed to conducting the business of the corporation with these principles at the forefront. Together, we will keep the torch shining brightly to pass on to our children.
- Rob Allen, Board Chair
