Message from the Chair
Dear fellow Shee Atiká Shareholders, As we welcome the spring season, we are pleased to share key developments and upcoming events that reflect our ongoing commitment to advancing the interests of Shee Atiká and strengthening our community. In April, Shee Atiká was privileged to co-sponsor the Southeast Alaska Native Leadership Conference in Sitka, held April 15–16, together with Sitka Tribe of Alaska, Sealaska, and Tlingit and Haida. This marked the second collaborative gathering within eight months of tribe and Native corporations dedicated to addressing community challenges and fostering robust relationships among our members and Native organizations. We also sponsored a community dinner on the conference’s final day, facilitating meaningful dialogue and connection. Significant progress has been made, and we look forward to sharing further updates with you in the near future. Looking ahead, Sheet’ká Rainforest Park will host Locals’ Day on May 17, 2026, so mark your calendars if you’re in Sitka! We are looking forward to a great visitor season. We have ramped up hiring and have many shareholders who will be working with us in the park. There are still a few job openings, so check out the Careers page on our website for more information. Shee Atiká is proud to have sponsored and contributed to the Point House Revitalization project in Sitka, supporting the reconstruction of the clan houses in the Village. Our donation helped fund a benefit concert in Sitka, which raised additional funds for the project. We are looking forward to Celebration in Juneau this year, where our corporation donated funds to allow Sitka dance groups to attend and participate. This biennial event is an amazing coming together of Native people, culture, art, dance, language, and traditional foods in Juneau, and we hope to see as many shareholders as possible while we are there. Our initial meetings this year were dedicated to preparations for our annual meeting and the election of three board members. The Annual Meeting of Shareholders will be held in Anchorage on June 20th, with supplementary informational meetings scheduled in Sitka and Seattle. Additionally, to reach more elders, we have been hosting Coffee & Questions with the Chair and CEO in the morning, the day before each Sitka board meeting. We hope to see participation continue to increase at these events. We encourage your participation in our meetings and events and hope to see many of you at the annual meeting, either in person or via livestream. Thank you for your continued support and engagement. We wish you and your families a rewarding and prosperous spring and an amazing summer. ___________ |
|
| As always, we invite you to stay up to date with all things Shee Atiká via our e-newsletter, website, Facebook, LinkedIn, and shareholder portal.
On behalf of the Board and staff at Shee Atiká, thank you for your continued engagement, ideas, and support. Your voice matters, and your involvement shapes our future.
