Dear Shareholders,
Spring is in the air and in Sitka that can only mean one thing—annual herring season. I hope you were all able to secure some eggs during this year’s run and are enjoying the warmer weather. This is also a very busy time for your corporation as we are gearing up for our annual meeting of shareholders. Shee Atiká turns 50 this year and to celebrate, we’re hosting a special celebration in addition to our annual meeting to commemorate this huge milestone for our corporation and shareholders.

Gabrielle (16) is a Shee Atiká shareholder from Mount Rainier High School and Highline College in Des Moines, WA. She is daughter to Roy Hammock III and granddaughter to Roy Hammock Jr from Sitka, AK. Gabrielle is a self-taught Tlingit artist pursuing art as a career. She looks forward to applying for Shee Atiká scholarships next school year to help her fund her collegiate pursuits.

Shareholder Relations Committee
Annual application period opening soon! The Shareholder Relations Committee plays an important role in how we work toward our mission by providing recommendations on communication, engagement, and improving non-dividend benefits to shareholders. This Committee includes four non-Board member shareholder seats—two at-large, one elder (age 60+), and one youth (high school junior or senior).
Applications will be due by Friday, May 24, 2024, at 5 p.m. AK Time.

Scholarship Committee
Have you considered getting more involved at Shee Atiká? Keep an eye out for the annual application period to join the Scholarship Committee opening this fall.

The Scholarship Committee met in April to review applications for Academic, Vocational, and Cultural & Heritage Scholarships for the fall 2024 semester.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by staff in early May.

Coffee Time for Elders
Shee Atiká and Sheet'ká Ḵwáan Sitka Tribe of Alaska will be co-hosting community coffee time Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 11:30 am at Harrigan Centennial Hall in Sitka (Raven room). If you have questions, please contact Caroline Fenton at (907) 966-9662.
Sitka Tourism Conference
Shareholder Relations Manager Kori Lindstrom attended the Sitka Tourism Cultural & Heritage Conference in March as Sitka prepares for the upcoming tourism season. Check out aerial tour guide job opportunities coming soon at Sheet’ká Treetop Adventures!
Sitka Fine Arts Camp Shareholder Scholarships
In 2023, Shee Atiká donated $8,000 to Sitka Fine Art's Camp, which provided fully paid scholarships to 11 youth shareholders. We will be contributing the same donation for shareholders in 2024. If you have registered for SFAC this summer and would like to apply for a SFAC scholarship, click here.
