Shee Atiká Enterprises, LLC (SAE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Shee Atiká, Inc., has been awarded a contract by the National Institute of Health (NIH). The intent of the contract is to develop digital health solutions that help address the COVID-19 pandemic. The team is utilizing smartphone technology, an app and wearable devices to monitor the health of individuals in a 24-week study.
Shee Atiká, Inc., is pleased to announce that the SAE Team has launched the KRE Digital Health Solutions Study. SAE welcomes all Shee Atiká, Inc. shareholders and descendants to learn more about this research effort by visiting the website: krecovidstudy.com.
About the Study:
With an appreciation that Indigenous communities have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the SAE team seeks to include Alaska Native and American Indian people in the study. Among the study goals, the SAE team aims to decrease the spread of COVID-19, improve symptom management, and improve outcomes for those affected by COVID-19.
The study does not replace any local directives on COVID-19 testing or protocols. Participants seeking medical care will be referred to their usual primary care provider.
The Study’s Process and Benefits of Participating
Participants who enroll in the study will be sent a smartphone, thermometer, and a pulse oximeter in the mail. Participants will use the devices to monitor their daily health status and any symptoms. Participants will also be taking bi-weekly COVID-19 tests, which are provided at no cost. Participants’ health information is collected through the app and sent to KRE, the health professionals involved in the study. The information that is collected through the technology is encrypted and de-identified, meaning that it is protected and secure.
The participant navigators with KRE will receive the health information through the app each day, and they will contact participants if anything looks concerning. Participants will check in with KRE’s navigators weekly about their health status and any symptoms, and participants can message their participant navigators with questions or get one-on-one support.
Upon completion of the study, each participant may keep the smartphone and medical devices that were provided. Also, participants who complete the study may receive up to $250 as compensation for their time.
