Alaska Congressman Don Young Receives William Paul Award

Board News

The William Paul Award is presented each year to an individual or group for outstanding service to the Shee Atiká Corporation. The award is named in memory of William Paul for his contribution in helping to form the corporation. While the award bears his name, the honor is symbolic of others who made significant contributions to Shee Atiká’s founding and continued development.

This year the Shee Atiká, Inc. Board of Directors selected Congressman Don Young as the William Paul Award recipient for his decades-long support of Shee Atiká and its shareholders. Over the years, Congressman Young has sponsored over 40 amendments to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) and continues to fight for the full implementation of ANCSA and to achieve a fair and just settlement for Alaska Native people. The Congressman has for decades supported Shee Atiká’s efforts concerning Cube Cove and making permanent section 646 for Alaskan Native Settlement Trusts.
