Message from the Chair

Dear fellow Shee Atiká shareholders,

We hope your summer is going well and that you have had opportunities to spend quality time with your friends and family. It has been a busy few months since our last newsletter, and we are happy to share some updates with you. On May 17, we hosted Locals' Day at Sheet'ká Rainforest Park in Sitka. We offered free Treetop Adventure aerial tours and free lunches cooked by our crew from the Salmon Tales food truck. The community came out and supported us. Even though it was a little rainy and cold, we had a great time! We are happy to report that the majority of our employees at the Park are shareholders or shareholder family members.

In May, we also held shareholder informational meetings in Sitka and Seattle, and we thank the shareholders who attended and shared a meal with us. We appreciated that you took the time out of your busy schedules to be with us. Thank you to the Kuteeyaa dancers in Seattle and the Gájaa Héen dancers in Sitka for performing at our meetings. You really made them special for everyone and gave us a preview of what was to come at Celebration in Juneau.

The Shee Atiká Board was pleased to contribute $26,000 to four Sitka dance groups and the Xheighaa (Warrior) Veteran Canoe Journey Group to attend Celebration in Juneau. Thank you so much to the Gájaa Héen, Kaagwaantaan, Noow Tlein, and Sheet'ká Kwaan dancers for sharing your dances and songs with everyone in Juneau; you made us all so proud!

Also, at Celebration this year, we had the honor of awarding the Charlie Joseph, Sr. Award to Dr. Ray Wilson (Aanyáanáx), of the Kiks.ádi. The Charlie Joseph, Sr. Award is given to a group or individual who strives to preserve the Tlingit lifestyle before Western man through their lived experiences or by teaching others. Charlie shared his traditional knowledge through living a subsistence lifestyle and teaching Tlingit traditions to students in the Sitka Native Education Program from 1974 until his death in 1986. Dr. Wilson is a clan leader, cultural knowledge keeper, teacher, Korean War veteran, and volunteer. Ray has helped teach the men and boys of the All Nations Children dance group, volunteered with the Tlingit Culture Language Literacy program in Juneau, and shared his traditional knowledge with visitors and young employees up at the top of the Mount Roberts Tram. Teaching others has been an important part of Ray's life. He has also taught K-12 teachers from across Alaska about Tlingit culture so they can understand Native ways of life and apply that knowledge in their classrooms. Ray has dedicated his life to service and a better education for our children. Ray openly shares his cultural knowledge, wisdom, values, and time with others through teaching and storytelling, and this is why the Shee Atiká Board of Directors unanimously agreed to honor him with the Charlie Joseph, Sr. Award this year.

Finally, I would like to thank all shareholders who took the time to vote at this year's annual meeting and to congratulate Kim, Larry, and Ken on their re-election to the board. We have a great team in the boardroom, and we have a lot of great things that we are working on. Thank you for your continued support. We wish you and your families a wonderful summer and a prosperous harvest season, and we'll catch up again this fall.

Board News

At the Shee Atiká Annual Meeting, held on June 20, 2026, shareholders representing 94,798 shares of Class A common stock were present either in person or by proxy. These shares represented 53.2% of the outstanding Class A common stock entitled to vote. With 178,110 shares outstanding and eligible to vote as of the record date, a quorum was established, allowing the meeting to proceed with business as planned.

During this meeting, shareholders re-elected Larry Garrity, Kim Essendrup, and Ken Truitt to the Shee Atiká Board of Directors.

The Board and its officers remain unchanged, with Steve Karpstein continuing as Board Chairman, Larry Garrity as Vice Chair, Marcus Cogley as Secretary, and Lowell Frank serving as Treasurer.

We congratulate the re-elected directors and thank them for their continued leadership and service to Shee Atiká and its shareholders.

We are grateful to everyone who participated in the election, information sessions, and our Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

Following the Annual Meeting of Shareholders, changes were made to the following committees:

Finance Committee: Provides oversight of the organization's financial health and fiscal strategy.

Scholarship Committee

Shee Atiká's Scholarship Program continues to demonstrate our commitment to investing in the education, professional development, and cultural enrichment of our shareholders and their families. The program provides financial support for a wide range of educational opportunities, including academic degree programs, vocational and technical training, and cultural and heritage studies.

As of June 2026, the Scholarship Committee has received 60 applications and awarded $306,639 in scholarships. These awards help empower recipients to pursue their educational goals, develop valuable skills, and strengthen connections to their cultural heritage.

The Scholarship Committee extends its appreciation to all applicants and looks forward to supporting the continued success and achievement of our shareholder community.

Locals' Day 2026

On May 17, Shee Atiká welcomed community members to Sheet'ká Rainforest Park's Locals' Day, an afternoon dedicated to fun, adventure, and community connection. Guests gathered at the park to enjoy a hot dog lunch, spend time with friends and family, and experience all that the park has to offer.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity for local residents to take free aerial adventure tours, allowing attendees to explore the park from a unique perspective while enjoying the beauty of Southeast Alaska's rainforest.

This event provided a wonderful opportunity for community members and shareholders of all ages to get outdoors, connect with one another, and create amazing memories.

Shee Atiká extends its thanks to everyone who attended and helped make Locals' Day such a success. Events like these reflect our continued commitment to fostering community connections and sharing the unique experiences available at Sheet'ká Rainforest Park.

In Our Communities

2026 Donations

Through June 2026, Shee Atiká has contributed more than $90,000 in community support and charitable giving, investing in education, arts and culture, economic development, social services, and tribal initiatives across Southeast Alaska.

Major contributions included $10,000 each for Sitka Fine Arts Camp shareholder scholarships and Sitka Trail Works, along with support for Celebration 2026 activities, regalia workshops, indigenous education, homelessness services, historical preservation, youth programs, and community gatherings. At Shee Atiká, we are committed to strengthening communities, preserving culture, and creating opportunities for future generations.

Fiona Borbridge - Administrative Assistant

"My name is Fiona, and I am honored and excited to have accepted my position at SAI as their Administrative Assistant. I started in June, and I already feel at home in the company. My coworkers are so kind, and I love working with the shareholders that come into the office. Living with Shee Atiká shareholders and being married to one, I've seen them benefit from SAI scholarship opportunities, picnics, and funeral assistance. It is a pleasure to now be at the back-end of the company knowing I am helping my family and friends.

I grew up in less-rainy-than-Sitka, Seattle, Washington with my wonderful parents and three siblings. I majored in English and Dramatic Studies at Northwest University, where I met my husband. I taught middle-school history (and loved it) for several years before moving to Sitka for a change of pace and to be closer to my curly-haired nephew, Malachi.

From being the place I fell in love with my husband, to summitting Arrowhead, to the love and community on the island, Sitka is irreplaceable. I look forward to continuing to serve the community here."

Annie Gamble - Summer Intern

"Annie Gamble yóo xát duwasáakw. Lingít xat sitee. Chookansháa áyá xát. Kiks.ádi yadi áyá xát. Kaagwaantaan dachxan áyá xát. My parents are Bob Gamble and Rose Ramm, and my paternal grandparents are the late Anita Wright and Art Gamble.

I am originally from Sitka, Alaska, and I grew up in Bellevue, Washington. I am a student at Fort Lewis College majoring in accounting and minoring in Native American and Indigenous Studies.

After college, I plan to move back home to Sitka and work as an accountant and continue connecting with my community and culture.

I am the summer intern at the Shee Atiká Incorporated office in Sitka. It has been a wonderful experience so far. I work with my fields of study and several other departments, and I enjoy having a variety of learning opportunities. I assist the accountants with accounts payable, attend meetings to learn about operations, participate in cultural activities, and work with other interns on our group project. The Shee Atiká team is kind and generous with their guidance. This internship has provided me with valuable knowledge and experience that will benefit my career, and I am very thankful for this opportunity. Gunalchéesh"

Shareholder Spotlight

Sienna Reid - Culture and Heritage Scholarship Recipient

Thanks to a Shee Atiká Cultural and Heritage Scholarship, Sienna was able to enroll in master carver Tommy Joseph's Northwest Coast carving course at the University of Alaska Southeast this spring. During the class, students learned the traditional art of creating bentwood boxes, beginning with Western red cedar planks and transforming them through carving, steaming, bending, and finishing techniques rooted in Northwest Coast cultural practices.

Sienna completed a beautifully painted bentwood box featuring an Eagle design and also had the opportunity to continue work on a model canoe started in a previous carving course.

Reflecting on the experience, Sienna shared that the class helped build on skills learned in earlier carving courses while introducing new techniques and challenges. She expressed gratitude for Shee Atiká's support, noting that the scholarship allowed her to continue pursuing her passion for carving and cultural arts. Sienna looks forward to future opportunities to further develop her skills and deepen her connection to these traditions.
