Shee Atiká Shareholders Win Sitka Chamber of Commerce’s Top Awards

Other News

Each year the Greater Sitka Chamber of Commerce presents businesses and individuals with awards at the annual Gala.

At the 2020 Gala, Bob and Betty Allen won the Cossack Cap Award.  As many of you probably already know, Betty Allen is a Shee Atiká shareholder.  The Cossack Cap Award is given to individuals who have distinguished themselves in unselfish and extraordinary public service to the citizens of Sitka.  Bob and Betty Allen were recognized for their vision, their hard work and dedication, and their contributions to the community through their company, Allen Marine Inc.  The Allens’ son, Dave, and his daughter Zaide (both Shee Atiká shareholders) accepted the Cossack Cap for his parents, who were not able to attend.

Alaska Seaplanes won the New Business of the Year Award.  Alaska Seaplanes is partially owned by Mike Stedman and his wife, former Shee Atiká Director Lori Stedman.  Although Alaska Seaplanes has been in business for quite some time, they opened a counter in Sitka in 2017, making it a new business.  It serves 13 communities providing essential services and is active in the community.

In addition to the Cossack Cap and the New Business of the Year awards, the Community Heroes award went to the Sitka Sound Science Center and the Business of the Year award went to Petro Marine.  (photos by Bobbi Jordan)
