Board Appoints Katherine Staton to Scholarship Committee

The Shee Atiká BoarKatie Statond of Directors appointed Katherine (Katie) Staton to the Scholarship Committee for a three year term beginning December 1, 2018.

Katie Staton is Tsimshian, from the Wolf (Lax’ Gibuu) Clan and has benefited from the Shee Atiká scholarship program.  She was born and raised in Juneau, the daughter of Donna Knight-Staton and Norman Staton Jr., granddaughter of Ethel (Milonich) and Norman Staton Sr. and great granddaughter of Mabel (Mather) and Robert Milonich. She has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Gonzaga University and a Juris Doctorate and Masters in Conflict and Dispute Resolution from University of Oregon School of Law.

Katie is the Tribal Liaison/Native American Programs Coordinator for the Oregon Youth Authority. Katie supports American Indian/Alaska Native youth, their families, and their tribes as they navigate Oregon’s juvenile justice system. Katie is married to Justus McCann, lives in Eugene, Oregon and enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends.

The Shee Atiká Scholarship Committee meets once per year to review and approve scholarship applications.  The Board would like to thank Anne Davis for her years of dedication and service to the shareholders during her time on the Scholarship Committee.
