The Shee Atika Benefits Trust (SABT), an irrevocable settlement trust, was established in 1997 for the benefit of all Shee Atika shareholders.  The purpose of the trust is to house assets that can be used solely for educational/other benefit of shareholders.  The trust has been funded in large part by annual contributions from Shee Atika, Incorporated, which have been in the range of $250,000 in most recent years.  Most recently, the property at the Totem Square Complex in Sitka, Alaska previously owned by Shee Atika, Incorporated was contributed to SABT.  This will allow SABT to generate its own income at a level that will fund the annual benefits paid out of the trust. 

Under present rules, anyone holding one share of Shee Atika stock qualifies for full benefits of SABT.   All shareholders are eligible for educational grants of up to $2,400 per academic year, and up to $4,800 per year for graduate studies.  Shareholders seeking vocational training may receive up to $7,200 towards a qualified program.  Other educational awards are available for short-term training and cultural and heritage courses.  In addition to educational benefits, SABT also contributes up to $2,000 for funeral expenses of deceased shareholders.  For more information on SABT scholarship benefits, please visit our scholarship information page by clicking here.  You may also view information about our funeral benefits by clicking here.
